Saint Michel

Another day in Bordeaux, another suburb. This time Saint Michel, regarded as the most cosmopolitan area of the city and home to artists, students and a wide range of ethnic communities. (see street art being created in extra) 

Its most famous building is the bell tower, currently undergoing restoration.  Built in the 15th century it sits beside the cathedral rather than on top of it.

My several hours of wandering in St Michel was a wonderful experience - and then within minutes on my way back to my airbnb, I was in some of the poshest areas.  Truly a city of two halves.
