Life is a Challenge!

TINY TUESDAY AND NOT MUCH HAIR LEFT!

Today was our day to go to see Fran, our lovely hairdresser, who has less than 3 weeks before she has her second baby.  I told her when we got there that I had made sure that Mr. HCB knew what to do with the “boiling water and sheets” - so she looked at me rather blankly!  I explained that in all the old films, husbands were despatched to get “boiling water and sheets” and I felt that it was just to get them out of the way, which made Fran laugh.

She looks the picture of health, as you can see, and we both said we hoped all would go well for her - our next appointment isn’t until 12th August, so we may be looking a little unkempt by then as we usually see her every six weeks!

On the way to the hairdresser we popped into our favourite charity shop, DEBRA, and took them some things - my sorting out really needs to get going, as we are thinking of having a Home Group at our house in the autumn.  We need to declutter our hall - and get rid of various larger items so have told Sarah at DEBRA to expect some books and furniture.  It’s only a small shop, so the furniture may need to go elsewhere, but we are both determined - time will tell if it gets done!

Walking back to the car, I saw a large plant in one of the pavement planters and on the plant, which we both thought was Angelica, there was a small beetle, so I took a few shots, thinking I could use this for Tiny Tuesday - I’m definitely “on theme” because there is no theme!

When I got home, I looked up what this might be and found out the following from Mr. Google:

“Asian Lady Beetle Larvae grow up to 1/3 inch (8 mm) long and resemble tiny alligators. The body is mostly black to dark bluish gray. They have prominent tubercles (raised bumps) and branched, fleshy spines that are black or orangish.  Adult lady beetles can consume over 100 aphids per day, and larvae can consume hundreds more during their development.”

Always interesting to know what insects are and, of course, if they eat aphids, then that’s good.  It’s a dull and grey day today, and quite windy again, so I will be indoors this afternoon, although Mr. HCB says he will be going out into the garden to plant more runner beans and pottering around in the greenhouse - perhaps I will start on some of the decluttering - some upbeat music might help!

Enjoy the rest of your day.  M xx
