THE DYNAMIC DUO GO ADVENTURING!!!!

Great day today.  It started off early as Hubby said we needed to get Suzy Sazuki into the garage for her MOT and service by 8.30.  So I thought we'll just go for a wee pootle afterwards!!!  It turns out that he got the day wrong and it's THURSDAY this week.  He, of course, swears blind that the Receptionist got it wrong and put the wrong day down!!!

No matter we went out anyway as we had got up early.  I haven't been to Clapham for ages so we decided to go there.  This is Clapham in North Yorkshire of course, not the famous Junction or Common!!!

We were just going to go for a walk on the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail.  Also, as he had got me up early for no reason I thought perhaps we would try Ingleborough Cave as I've never been.

We were there by 9.30 so we started off with a week along the river and the waterfall was in full spate, in fact the best I've ever seen it today (centre photo in the collage and then into The Old sawmill Cafe for coffee.  On talking to the very helpful young lady there I wasn't sure where I'd be able to do the cave as you have to bend double in a couple of places and it takes about 50 minutes to do the whole walk. She advised that once we'd walked up there (about a 40 minute walk) if we decided we wanted to go in just tell whoever was there that we had already paid for the Nature Traiil and they would deduct that for us.

A very pleasant walk there, loads of birds singing their hearts out and the sunshine dappling through the leaves was just beautiful.

I spoke to the very helpful young man who said only two thirds of the cave was open at the moment as they've had a part of it flooded and that a large school party was there ahead of us.  Oh and that the one and only toilet was not available due to the flooding is this meant they could't flush!!!!

I thought about it and as the school party was about 30 minutes ahead of us I thought we would go for it.  I almost didn't go due to the large school party because I do get a little claustrophobic and the thought of being stuck with coming towards me freaked me out a bit.  The young man said there was only one section that we had to crouch down for and it was quite short, so I was very brave and said we would go for it!!!

We had to wear hard hats, which they very colour coordinated for me (hee hee) but I'm so glad we had them on.  There was more than one section to bend down even for me (at 5 ft 1 and a bit) so poor hubby at 6 ft 2 really had to bend low!!!  Also lots of drips of course.

Still it was definitely worth seeing.  They advertise it as the best show cave in the UK, well I don't know about that as Cheddar and Wookey caves are fabulous too - but it was certainly brilliant and worth a visit.

We caught up with the school party, but right at the end before we had to turn round and go back the way we had come.  We listened into a couple of the things the teacher said and he pointed out a stalagtite formation that would have missed and that is the little one just below the picture of hubby in the collage in extras - because it looks like a horse's leg!!!

The school party went right ot the very end so decided to cut that tiny bit out and return so as not to get stuck behind them.

This is quite an adventure for me lately but I'm so glad we did it.  We walked on back down to the Old Sawmill Cafe (another 40 minutes) and decided to pop in there for a very pleasant lunch and drink.  The staff are so friendly and helpful.

I also met a female Westie who put her paws up to me - ah a future girlfriend for Robbie I thought!!!).  Then a couple of other dogs just came up and put their paws on my knees - now how could I refuse to give them attention after that - once was called Damson and his brother was called Pickle!!!!

We then just strolled on down past the waterfall, over the bridge to the church and back to the car and came home.

Well that's enough adventuring for one day - hubby is now asleep in his chair whilst I'm typing this!!  Do take care everyone and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
