First Day of Eid
(10/6/25)
We were up and out early to pick up a hire car for the day. I'm so glad we chose today to do our "out", as the roads were quiet. So was the airport, so it didn't take too long to get the car. The very helpful lady at Sixt let me upgrade to an A-Class Mercedes for just £10! Amazing.
So, we got the car, which looks great, but it has so many features, I drove to Festival City's car park to give myself time to get familiar with the bells and whistles! It drives like a dream and did the climb to Jebel Jais (my second extra) effortlessly. It is typically 10 degrees C cooler up here, but it wasn't today. Thankfully, G had done us a packed lunch, so we ate our sandwiches and started to head back. There were more people out and about by this time.
We called in at the Ajman Hotel (my main image and first extra). G had been here with her 4get-me-not group and was impressed with the hotel, so wanted me to see it. I am pretty sure it started life as the Kempinski Hotel, back in the 1990s.
The car has a sunroof, so we drove on Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard before getting a rotisserie chicken from Spinneys for our dinner. It was 31 years ago that my mum passed away, and this chicken was one of her favourite meals. A very good, if long and tiring day! :))
