First Dahlias
I foolishly walked all around the property when we got home last evening. The uneven ground must have caused more injury to my heel. Hubby declared today a “sit on the recliner with my brace on day” for me. And I have almost obeyed his edict. This dahlia is in one of the pots nestled in the front garden. I figured I could walk that far in my brace to get a blip. The large bloom hasn’t completely opened but I still think it was blip worthy. I decided to be productive while sedentary. So far, I have written four chapters in my life story today. I had gotten pretty far behind on them. My sister and BIL stopped by and brought me an early birthday gift: three beautiful peony plants and a nice yellow perennial. I mentioned how much I love this flowers. She found two unusual ones and a gorgeous deep pink, almost red one. Hubby will plant them for me tomorrow morning. He was reading all the planting instructions I found on the web and fell asleep. I suggested he wait until he is fresh in the morning. Maybe I will be able to supervise by then. He picked up my prescription, some vitamins and groceries. I asked him to grab his lunch out. I made a rotisserie chicken and veggie salad for me. We have leftovers from our TN trip for dinner. My blueberries are hanging with ripe fruit. That will be another job tomorrow with hubby’s assistance. I have a doctor appointment mid-morning. Sure hope my doc is pleased with my weight loss to date and my blood test results are improved. Wishing you good news also. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “The many varieties and wonderful colors of the modern dahlia make it a totally different flower from the one our grandmothers knew. The names are descriptive of the different varieties, and as there are so many of them, and they bloom from early in June or July until frost, a garden of dahlias might be very interesting.” - Helena Rutherfurd Ely
