Catching the light. Roses.
I was awake early just after 6:00 a.m.and wandered up the garden enjoying the already balmy air and sunshine. Fine weather clouds drifting very slowly across the blue of the sky. The early sun was catching the roses.
The leaves on the trees just being stirred in the breeze. I stripped the bed when I came indoors. Now sitting outside by the patio window, enjoying the momentary peace before the everyday noises creep in once more, and having my breakfast. It is 8:00 a.m.
One or two planes have circled round on their way to the airport. Not as many as the weekends which are very busy!
I love this time of day.
The two Wood Pigeons who frequent our garden are recreating their annual nest in the Liquid Amber tree by the summerhouse. They nest somewhere else in early Spring when the tree has no leaves. Mr Pigeon has been trying to court his Mrs for several days, showing off all his moves and bowing to her frequently lifting up his tail feathers, but so far to no avail.
Reminded me of the line of a song,
“That don’t impress me much!”
But he is persevering and the nest is going ahead. He is currently roo cooing away in the depths of the foliage! After I stripped my bed this morning (it’s a King Size) I got all the stuff into the machine before breakfast. Stephen is still in the back bedroom (since my op) and is nursing a cold at the moment. But it is improving each day. Once that has finished we’ll be back to normal and only one lot of bedding to be done each time!
We go on holiday next week the 20th June! I can’t wait to be back on the Lizard in Cornwall! As the weather today is for sunshine and warmth, everything that needs washing which we take with us is being done!
And so far the weather around then looks to be good!
I don’t think I’ll be doing any strenuous cliff path walks just yet but when I do walk it will be without the awful pain I had last year! I can’t believe I’ve had these two hip ops since last November, and it’s a learning curve as to how much I can do. I have to remember I have two hips which are still in the process of being healed and to use my crutch at times, without feeling as if it is a backward step!
Yesterday I enjoyed doing a bit of gardening.
Strimming some areas a bit, and using the hedge trimmer to sort out a small box bush in the front garden which is showing signs of disease.
I put a plastic cover around it to catch the cuttings which are best in the Green waste bin, which is normally collected and for which we paid! The strike is still ongoing. If it went in the compost one it would spread the disease. I then sprayed it having looked up instructions on how to deal with it last year when the box hedge in the back garden needed attention. That one seems to have survived and is looking good so far.
Well it’s time to finish here and stir myself.
Next lot of washing is now whizzing round in the machine. Stephen is now up and put it in.
First lot is on the line already
