From £ to lbs

Back in 1857, 113 Buchanan Street was built to impress. Big stone walls, fancy turrets, and a dome on the corner that made everyone walking by stop and stare. It was a bank back then — serious business, full of serious people counting other people’s money.

For years it stood as a symbol of the city’s growing wealth. Bank clerks, managers, and well-dressed customers coming and going, making deals, signing papers, and whispering about who was doing well and who was skint.

But times moved on. The banks merged, the business shifted, and eventually the grand old doors shut for good.

These days? It’s less about money and more about munchies. The old bank has turned into a home for cheap burgers and sad chips — perfect for hungry shoppers and tourists looking for a quick, greasy bite. What was once a place for counting pounds now helps people pile them on.

It’s still a stunning bit of architecture, mind you. Just with a lot more ketchup and a lot less cash inside.
