Day Four La Citadelle Lardier en Valencia

Took a long time to get going today so motorway to just past Grenoble then into the Alps on very good but very twisty roads.
The delay in starting was two fold Franck let us take more pictures in the courtyard of the Chateau, the place is so old it takes your breath away. And Franck is so charming and obviously proud of his home we could have spent all day there
Finally left and drove 10km to the medieval village of Perouges. Incredible place, badly cobbled streets, buildings all leaning out of true, fabulous doors and windows (hundreds of pictures taken of these alone)
We were enjoying strolling around when some music and shouting attracted us to the main square. There was a large military parade happening, lots of soldiers in their best uniform, quite a few people looking important without uniform and one soldier who both was in uniform and looked important. We discovered that the battalion commander was passing over his role to a successor. The whole thing took well over a hour and was impressive, even though we didn't understand a word.
We were just leaving when the soldiers started marching out. The blip was taken a few seconds before we were pinned to the wall letting these guys go first , quite an experience.
Tonight we are in an extraordinary house, not as old or as interesting as the last few nights but still comfortable. Tomorrow we arrive at our destination and the following day Grandson arrives so blip write ups will be a lot shorter
