The Usual Suspects

Inspired drawing in the Scottish Portrait Gallery, overlooked by Professor Higgs of Boson fame. This is a little section dedicated to scientists and I thought it was pretty good until we found the "draw your own" table which made it great! They were properly inspired. Except for Malcolm, who gathered his age 11 sarcasm to it's best and said with a straight face, "Well, I can't wait to come back here."

We saw the American-summer-blockbuster "Planes", which the chap who cut Gordon's hair said would be, "exactly the same as Cars," (I agreed wholeheartedly, with a sigh), which was incredibly a really QUITE GOOD film. Amazing. They managed to make it slightly intriguing and put the inevitable "underdog wins" ending in (very slight) doubt a few times. But as with all American films, the underdog overcomes triumphalism attended by fawning loyalists, only to emerge himself as a triumphalist attended by fawning loyalists. And so it goes on.

Anyway, better than the utter crap that is Monsters University, where triumphalists attended by fawning loyalists are overcome by ... well you get the idea. Minus the intrigue.

Bewilderment on the train: I've met some weird train guards but today's was Number 1. Scotrail train, me and 4 children, Katie age 6 on my lap hands him our tickets. He won't give them back to her, tries to give them to me, avoids her outstretched hand. "It's OK, Katie will take them." But no! "They're your tickets. They're adult tickets." What!!!? "Please give them to Katie." He puts them on the table. "Why did you do that?" And he says... "Do you want her to have cigarettes and alcohol!? Those are adult tickets." And he storms off to right other wrongs.
What a loonie.
