The London Archives
I met up with A this morning, because of holidays and other commitments , we haven’t seen each for ages so we started the day with coffee and a Pastel de Nata and a good catch up. After that we visited The London Archives to see their London in the Second World War exhibition .It is a fascinating selection of maps, documents and diaries. The maps showed the areas of bomb damage colour coded from minor damage to complete destruction. My blip is a painting of Cheapside between Bow Church and Bread Street showing the damage. My first extra is a Circular that was issued giving details of recipe for feeding those who were bombed out. I can’t imagine the size of cooking pot required. The other extra is part of the Daily return of air raid fire calls for 29 December 1940. This covers one of the most devastating raids of the Blitz.
A great day out,
