Trouble comes in threes

Woke to a beautiful morning and it didn’t take too long to get packed up and ready to head to Inverness. We walked across the beach to say goodbye to Linda and Stuart and on the way back to our van noticed that there was a puddle of water underneath the position of the bathroom sink. It’s not constant but will need looked at.

A short drive into Fort William and I was able to pick up some wool in the lovely wool shop as I’m planning to make a couple of shawls as birthday gifts. We enjoyed lunch outside before heading on to Inverness. The drive up was pleasant with not too much traffic and we were soon on the site. I checked us in and then problem number 2 surfaced. Mr PHL is great at towing the caravan but today somehow misjudged things and crash bang wallop he hit the post holding the keypad entry system with the side of the caravan.

It didn’t take long for a crowd of ‘helpful’ onlookers to gather and Elaine the site owner was keen to avoid further damage to her post and until Mr PHL had time to think things through he was reluctant to move the car and caravan. If there hadn’t been a slope, we might have been able to unhitch the caravan and move it back manually but no such luck. After a bit of head scratching he managed to manure enough to get under the barrier without causing any further damage to the post or keypad.

I spoke to Elaine after we’d set up on our pitch and she was confident that it would be an easy fix to reattach the keypad but wanted an electrician to take a look at it. So she covered up the keypad and left the barrier raised and sturdily tied up.

We popped offsite to meet my soon to be step niece’s daughter. Wee Ivy-Rose is 5 weeks old and absolutely gorgeous but experiencing a bit of a growth spurt so only settled for a few minutes at a time before needing to be fed again. Wee scone. Ellie is solo parenting as her partner is working away from home for the next 2 weeks and luckily has both doting grannies close at hand.

After leaving her we picked up steak and chips from the supermarket for a late dinner. Tasty.

Problem number 3 manifested when we got back to the site again and Mr PHL noticed that the plastic cover on his seat which hides the seat controls had come away from the seat. Although the covers aren’t too expensive, fitting the new cover could involve removing the seat!
