Pitmedden Gardens
It was hazy on the coast first thing this morning and there was a fresh breeze too so we decided to head inland to see the gardens at Pitmedden. It was 20°C there and with only a gentle breeze so we had made a good decision.
A few years ago the gardens had a makeover and the upper terrace was transformed into an extensive area of informal flower beds. The lower level remained as a formal setting (see extras). The orchard area was extended so there will be even more fruit on sale to the public come the end of the season.
There were lots of splashes of colour on show but it will be a few more weeks before the gardens are at their very best.
I was delighted to take some photos of painted ladies, the first butterflies I’ve seen this year but have chosen an action shot of a bee which has been busy collecting nectar points at the foxgloves.
We had the most enjoyable visit and will return in a few week’s time to see even more colourful displays.
Bigger bee viewed in large setting.
Enjoy your weekend lots! It’s going to be a wet one for us so that made today in the sun all the more special.
