5 k and KO

FRIDAY

I'm finally seeing the back end of my cold, and after almost seven weeks off, I laced up my running shoes and headed out. I ran down to the remains of Llannerch Bridge and the River Clwyd, then back home—5 km in total with a 108m climb back up to the village.

Later, I made a trip into Denbigh for some errands, then off to this afternoon’s knockout match against East Parade Rhyl at Denbigh Lower Park—a neutral green. My sixth bowls match so far this week!

It was hot and sunny, but very humid. The competition is a handicap format with aggregate scores counting, and we had to give the opposition a 20-point head start. Despite that, we won comfortably with nine winners out of ten. I had a good game—came from behind and edged it 21–19.

Picked up some ice cream on the way back, just as the rain started.
Dashed home to get the washing in before the heavens properly opened. A downpour this evening—fingers crossed it revives the front lawn.

Over 20,000 steps today.
