oh Friday 13th

Getting up earlier as per my new routine so that the woofer gets a morning walk before it gets too hot meant that we were back by 8.30 and, unusually,  I decided to turn on the TV to watch the news while I drank my first cup of tea of the day.

What a mistake. 

BBC World news oscillated between the tragic Air India plane crash and the dreadfully significant bombardment of Iran by Israel and the subsequent fallout. Sky News was mostly the latter. Not wanting to look and yet not being able to stop, I sat all day sucked in to the black hole of disturbing commentary and images, just leaving the screen to complete a few chores during the adverts on Sky or the repeated footage on both.  

Relief came in the form of going out at 7pm with Anita and Dan to have dinner in a restaurant I have never been to before, but will certainly go to again.  Named Çamlı it is a typical Turkish cuisine fish and mezzes place and we enjoyed a nice meal, lovely view, the gorgeous evening's warm sunshine and each other's company.
