I don’t know what time the storm started in the night but I woke around 3 o’clock to the sound of thunder and rain. I got back to sleep quickly but at 4.45 there was more thunder, lightning and torrential rain.

Once the storm cleared the morning was showery. Both forecasts gave midday to 2 pm as having the smallest chance of rain. Travelling light with just my mobile phone for photos I walked to Rydal. After a coffee at Rydal Hall tea shop I walked around to look at the waterfall below the Hall (blipped) before heading home on the bus.
