Red Clover ( Trifolium pratense )
I was awake around 5:00 and the heavens were opening along with the usual crashes and bangs from the sky. Back to sleep. When we got up the rain varied between heavy and very heavy along with the thunder. By the time we got to the Lodge it had turned to showers. By lunch time it was more or less fair.
I nipped out looking for a blip and settled on the red clover in the "wildflower meadow". Being a legume (member of the pea family) clovers are valuable both as food for pollinators and for the nitrogen fixing providing plant food. Having a tap root makes it very drought resistant.
