Pogonophobic, me?

If you've ever wondered, this is why archaeologists have beards: so they can stroke them during those moments spent wondering what to make of it all/what to do next.

We packed a lot in today, starting with a visit to the Ness of Brodgar excavation. I went once before a few years ago and it seems to be getting more exciting with each season.

We then went for a tour of the innards and the roof of St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall and were treated to magnificent views.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and a bit on the hot side and we took Jasper for a walk to the Ring of Brodgar where, literally out of the blue, the heavens opened and we got completely drenched. No matter, we went back and dried off and then headed out to the Kirkwall Hotel for a slap-up meal, prior to returning for a pool tournament and a beverage or several.
