Colour on a Murky Day

After a day of rain yesterday, I woke to a misty, murky world and more rain, but fortunately the rain stopped and the murk disappeared about 10am. I would like to say it was brilliant sunshine thereafter but although we did have about 3 hours of brightness, the murk returned but not until well after a lovely swim in a calm sea.

After all my shenanigans yesterday, today was ultra quiet. I read, crocheted  and ate in that order and only left the flat to collect a painting of the Hoy Hills bought for a daughter’s birthday later in the year. It’s beautifull wrapped and I’m hoping to leave it behind here for Jane to collect when she comes to Orkney in August for a short break.

One of the selkies mentioned that ‘The Salt Path’ is  being screened in the cinema at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall on the 24th June (other dates available). I hardly ever go to watch a film but I’ve read the book and really wanted to see how how it looked on screen. The cinema in the Picky is wonderful in that there is no danger of a 6’7” weighty man sitting in front of me and blocking my view. It’s tiered well so that everyone gets a good view of the screen. I booked tickets for me and another Selkie.

And so that appears to be the sum total of my endeavours today and it ‘s time to eat again.  At this rate there is little chance of getting the Ursula Andress body to recreate the exit from the sea I would like.
