Another Day out on the Randan
The swimming on a Monday morning is generally 8:45 to allow time to disband before the dust bin lorry does the rounds. This morning was a low tide which is not so good for entry into the water and some of the ladies were practising their walking for the midsummer midnight walk in Saturday and so there were only 5 of us present. The water was quite boisterous on our way back to shore with an offshore wind slapping the water into our faces. No jelly fish were spotted.
I met my Orkney daughter later to go for coffee to Celina Rupp’s at the Barriers and then on to the Deerness Distillery for lunch. We stravaiged along back roads I had never been on before and visited two beaches in Deerness, Dingieshowe and Halley which of course were deserted and beautiful.
We were lucky with the weather - it was overcast but mild and not raining which is always a bonus up here. The rain conveniently started soon after I got home. Unfortunately a Selkie who popped into see me in the dry left in the wet and sans raincoat too.
