I thought I'd try climbing - it had got to happen some time - and went with club members to Wharncliffe Cragg up near Sheffield. I'd been there before and knew that the blocky rocks lying all along the base of the crag made moving about a bit tricky... so perhaps somewhere else would've been better. I carried the bare minimum so my rucksack was comparatively light, containing just helmet, harness, rockshoes, lunch, tea and water.
I haven't climbed outside since 20th April and indoors since 8th May and was trying to protect my back, so not surprising that I had more trouble than I should've had, but I seconded three routes, enjoyed it and then decided that was enough. I didn't do either of the two routes pictured, but wish I'd been able to. This is the route I had bother with, but as Fi pointed out, I've hardly climbed this year.
Issy on the left, Fi's niece, has joined us for the second time and I gifted her my Small harness, it's no use to me any more and fits her perfectly.
Onwards and upwards!
