Hoping To Be Enraptured By Romanian Revelry

Today instead of heading straight for our usual Sunday food shop we ventured to what was billed as a "Romanian Traditions Festival" in Coronation Square at the Lockmeadow Leisure Park in town.
We were hoping to be enraptured by Romanian revelry, culture and food and the initial signs were good as it appeared to be thronging with locals and Romanian expats alike. Sadly that did not prove to be the case as despite some glorious traditional music and singing (as can be seen in my main image of the singer who really was at the top of her game - I particularly liked the expansive gesture with her arm, the lady in black attire striding into the frame and the spectacle wearer just heading out of it) the rest of what was on offer was pretty underwhelming.
There were only a few stalls selling food and drink and a rather desultory bumper car ride for the kids. We thought we should try the food and settled on some chicken skewers but they turned out to be just the grilled meat with no accompaniments, sauces or even any seasoning served with two slices of very dry white bread which just added to the sense of disappointment.
We did hang around a bit longer to listen to the wonderful singer and the music and watch some of the attendees linking hands to perform a customary dance (as can be seen in my extra) so not all was lost, and at least we managed to capture some images, but I must admit we left feeling a little deflated that the organisers had not appeared to meet their brief.
