Oak carvings

This old oak tree was destroyed by a storm a few years ago  but the householder has had all these creatures carved into it. However,  facing the house is a carving of a ladies' head. Maybe his spouse or her own? 
Don't think I would want a carving of my head made. I am wooden enough!
