A bat flattery
Before going on Holz I was bemoaning to Dad that the batteries in my ancient Garmin GPS – proper, posh, long-lasting lithium batteries – had already gone flat or near enough. The idea had been that the unit would be powered mostly from the bike using the 12V input, and using its own batteries for ad hoc operation, since if the ignition was on, the power would be there. Of course, what it really highlights is how damn power hungry a 27 year-old GPS can really be.
Well, still bemoaning the situation I happened to glance at box the GPS came in, and there was the little white battery holder that came with the batteries I bought. Hang on, that's not just a holder but a charger. I didn't buy disposables, I bought rechargeables! How clever was that?
I wish my body and brain was as easy to plug in and recharge. I slept loads but still woke up tired, wafted through the morning with cups of tea, could have gone to sleep at lunchtime, pottered through bits of work after lunch and then got my second wind and ended up doing an extra hour. If you are now seized with the notion of dejá vu then don't worry, I have told that story before.
