A lost heart

I saw this lost heart on the pavement by the nearest bus stop to our house when I was walking up to Waverley station first thing this morning. It reminds me of my former PhD student Frances. She likes to 'collect' random heart shapes.

I was at the station to catch the train to Newcastle for a visit to Mummy hazelh. En route, I was tourist guide to a party of Americans (again). After I explained that Vikings landed on Lindisfarne in 793 intent on stealing the monks’ treasures, one asked me if the inhabitants at the time were Catholic or Protestant…!

Due to my recent holiday, there has been quite a long gap between my last trip to the care home and today's. My time with Mummy hazelh passed relatively well - I even joined in a seated Tai Chi class - but the bad news is that Mummy hazelh is still exhibiting disruptive behaviour (some of which I witnessed first hand today), and the care home manager has asked us to seek alternative accommodation for her. This is so disappointing, but it seems that my mother really does need to be placed in a care home that has specialist facilities and staff for 'challenging' dementia patients. My middle sister and I talked on the phone this evening and have started the process of identifying a new home for our mother.

While I was out today, Mr hazelh discovered that the latest series of New Zealand Traitors is on the iPlayer. He surprised me with the first episode (and a hot chocolate) when I reached home.

Exercise today: walking (~22.5k steps).
