A line of White. Not on the Road
My brother and my sister in-law picked me up around 9:30am. Sure was a frosty morning.
We headed over to Pigeon bay which is over the hill from Akaroa on the north side. Our parents, Grandparents plus lots of relations are buried in the cemetery in Pigeon bay. That was our first port of call. It was good to see the cemetery had had a good clean up. No long grass and rubbish around. It was wonderful to see our great great grandparents site had the trees cut back and cleaned out behind the fence. The top part of the head stone had fallen in the earthquakes. Being marble it too heavy to move. It is on the ground but you can now read it. My brother spent the first 10 years of his life in Pigeon bay. I was born after our parents moved to Christchurch.
After a sunny start to the day it was cloudy and very cold by the time we arrived in Akaroa. Everything was safe in the house.
I forgot to take a photo as I was so cold and I had left my phone in the car when we visited the cemetery. These photos were taken the next day on our way back to Christchurch. You have to look closely... you can see the Southern Alps. They looked so lovely in the morning sunshine. They are about 150k away. The photos were taken from the moving car window.
