Junction 10
Some people will go miles out of their way to avoid Junction 10 on the M25, such is the reputation of the roadworks there. We, on the other hand, enjoy going that way, just to see the incredible work going on. We have never been held up. It is a massive operation, not due to finish until some time next year. It will alleviate the long traffic jams that can affect the junction.
We were on our way to a lunch over near Basingstoke. This is an annual event that N and I call “the widows”. A very long time ago Norman was part of a group of six lads in the church youth club. This strong group has remained friends through the years but they are now sadly depleted, with Norman being “the last man standing”. The wives have continued the friendship and like to meet annually. I am the lucky one, and I am pleased to say N is welcomed at the lunch of ladies. One of them lives in Crawley and we pick her up from Leatherhead station, one lives in the Midlands and stays with the one that lives nearby in Hartley Wintney, and one lives in Wokingham. Sadly one of the six was unable to join us this year. We meet at a pub near Basingstoke.and enjoy a session renewing friendships that go back more than seventy years. It was such a happy gathering, and we are looking forward to seeing the photos that Sue took on her phone.
