Seriously?

and again

Up early to walk the woofer before Lucy and I walked to the Tuesday Akbuk market. The produce and prices are so very good - 20 lira (about 45p UK) per kilo for sweet red ripe tomatoes.... I also bought a kilo each of lemons, apricots, mini cucumbers and beautiful red strawberries - oh and  some of purple olives. Lucy bought similar. We both also bought pairs of summer shorts in thin and crazily patterned cool cotton.

By the time I was home, dragging my grandma trolley of produce in temperatures around 35ºC,  all I could think about was getting in to the pool, which took somewhat less than five minutes. I floated till I cooled down. Bliss.

Timing was great cos within ten minutes of getting out of the pool the work men arrived to continue the roof terrace renovation (see yesterday). These men worked all day in this heat and although I supplied water,  I was very happy when Abo, project manager,  appeared mid aftrnoon with a fine repast of take out vittles Turkish style and all six men sat around my patio table and ate their fill, mostly in appreciative silence.

By the end of the day the progress on the roof terrace was impressive, the  electrician has wired what will be the kitchen area and installed a wall socket on the other side of the 'room'.  Painter plasterer had finished the wall and all of them had started work outside, where behind the house they're building what will be a storage shed for garden furniture, stuff, and all those things that in the UK, you keep in the loft - including the Christmas tree! (see summative collage of the day's work in extra)

Rufus did not enjoy his day at all.  Poor munchkin. He clearly doesn't appreciate the intrusion of so many noise making strangers. We spent much of the day together closeted in the bedroom with air con and fan, though I did find time to finish organising the craft room and a quick trip to the 'million' shop to buy another plastic storage box for sundry embroidery items.

By early evening I was ready to implode from the noise, the woofer and the heat,  being cooped up in the bedroom with him, so the two of us visited my neighbour Lucy, and eventually, we three wandered down to the sea front for a beer and a salad at Paşa, giving Rufus, a little normality in familiar surroundings and meeting new folk (other diners) which he loves to do as long as they aren't wielding sledge hammers, angle grinders or an acetylene torch.
