A bit warm

So on a hot day I was going nowhere. Read my book in the shade. Then retire into the cool inside, start a new jigsaw and sew. And it is so quiet - no one is cutting grass and even the birds are hidden away, not making a sound.

Trapped - these shells with holes in them were collected a few years ago when we were in North Uist and wandering ‘our’ beach. I knew I would find a use for them one day.

Desperate Remedies - the only Thomas Hardy novel I have never read. Well, I don’t remember reading it, but this copy was on the shelf and looks read, so maybe I have read it. Published in 1871, this was Hardy responding to being told he needed more plot. Plot aplenty here! In the style of the ‘sensation novel’ which was popular at the time - Wilkie Collins etc. Lots of secrets and shocks and ‘goings on’. Not sure it’s quite as racy as the cover might suggest though!
