Nature Reserve
Hot day was forecast today, so we decided to do a walk in a nature reserve before lunch. We went to the Hawk and Owl trust at Sculthorpe, near Fakenham and had a good wander around, visiting several hides. At one point we ventured out onto a wildflower meadow but soon turned around, as the heat was so strong out of the trees. Most of the site was on boardwalks, as can be seen in the extra. They also have beavers behind a big fence, but they're nocturnal so rarely seen. We did talk to one of the volunteers who'd only seen one once, a couple of years ago!
The main blip is of a dragonfly we spotted from one of the hides. It seems to have been a week of lots with dragonflies and damselflies around.
After we'd had a walk we went into Holt for lunch, finding a cafe. Sharon had some sandwiches and Tim went for a baguette of local sausages, not expecting it to come with three complete hot sausages! Tasted lovely though.
We had a good wander around the various art galleries in Holt, buying cards in some of them to remember the art by. One of the galleries had a Hockey, a Lowry and a Banksy on the wall - the Banksy was the most expensive at £66,000 if anyone is interested!
Late afternoon we returned to the cottage to avoid the heat, and we sat out in the shade reading. The plan is to go out to a local pub for dinner.
