Leisure Walk
After yesterday’s clambering over roots and rocks, my knees told me to take it easy today. So I took the train to Morteratsch and walked towards the glacier. This time, I didn’t go all the way, because the last part isn’t suited for a leisure walk.
I took my time, enjoyed the spectacular scenery, looked at the flowers along the way and tried (without success) to take pictures of the many tiny butterflies. While I walked, the first clouds drew in from the Southwest - still harmless, but slowly thickening.
As I walked back, I congratulated myself for the early start. I have never seen so many people on that trail - on foot, on bikes, with dogs, with children in strollers or carriers, or with full mountaneering gear. If you are looking for solitude in the mountains, don’t come to Morteratsch!
Then I went for lunch at this place, where you can watch the traditional way of cheese-making and try a selection of local cheeses.
When I returned to my hotel planning to go for a swim in the outdoor pool, it started to rain and rumble. As I am writing this, it’s still raining. So I‘ll read for a while and perhaps go swimming later.
I am adding two extra collages; one with landscape impressions and the thickening clouds, and one with flowers and a picture of the crowded path.
