The Feast Day of Saint Aloysius Gonzaza.
Born in Castiglione della Stiviere, Italy, 9th March 1568. Died in Rome, Italy. 21st June 1591.
Patron saint of Jesuit novices and young people. Also AIDS sufferers.
He was born into an aristocratic family but experienced a vocation to serve Jesus from an early age.
He joined the Jesuits in 1585.
Archangel Gabriel appeared to St Aloysius Gonzaza in a vision ,to warn him of his death in less than a year. He did die within a year as a consequence of catching plague from the people he was helping.

Today is Summer Solstice. Enjoy the longest day. Hope it is a very happy one for you.

It is the birthday of Prince William.

The rain came at about 1pm here in Rishton, but there was no thunder nor drama thankfully. It remains sticky and close.

I went out as usual to the Best One shop for our Saturday Mail. Paul does the big Crossword. One of the shop owner's children was distressed by something and followed his mother into the shop crying. I felt sorry for him.

The Church bells were ringing out an exquisite peal as I went to the Co op with items for the foodbank.

The heat has made everything seem much more of an effort. It is so draining. I have gone back to drinking Yorkshire Gold tea, because it is more quenching than coffee in this hot spell.

Our old floor fan had worked brilliantly for many years, but it broke this morning when Paul switched it on. A piece of the fan windmill just broke off.

He had suffered the heat yesterday when it was 30c, he left the fan on all night.

He drove to Tesco and purchased two new floor fans more or less identical to our old one.

He has one in the conservatory and I have one in the living room. It helps when it goes beyond 23c.

There are three settings. It is a God send.

I was so happy the Victoria Cross poppy flower, in the blip, was open this morning. I grew it from seeds

bought for an affordable price from Etsy last year.

I have now also bought some seeds for growing light blue Himalayan poppies. They are so beautiful.

I hope you are having a good Saturday. Take care. Thank you for visiting my site today blip friends.
