What's in a name?
Londonderry, to loyalists.
Derry, to nationalists.
Derry/Londonderry to those trying to cover all bases and - perhaps - to avoid giving offence to anyone. That includes the BBC and various tourist organisations.
"The city is also nicknamed "the Maiden City" by virtue of the fact that its walls were never breached despite being besieged on three separate occasions in the 17th century..." (from the informative Wikipedia entry).
We had a fantastic meal last night, in a tapas restaurant that combined classic Spanish dishes with Irish-inspired elements. This was El Tapas Gra We came out with various dishes in mind to reproduce at home, not least whipped goat's cheesee with walnuts, pomegranate seeds and honey.
Then we knew it would be wet this morning, so I dug out the big waterproof that's been unused all week, tucked the camera inside it and went off to find the various murals on my list. Today's image comes from the city centre, near our hotel.
