A river runs through it
Last night we enjoyed the 60th birthday party very much, it was a warm evening and we were outside in the garden all evening. It was lovely to catch up with many friends there, and of course they were all interested in how Gavin was doing.
Today was hot but thankfully not as warm as the previous few days. For the first time this week Xena did not come back from her walk in an overheated state!
Gavin and I had a light lunch at his golf club and then played 9 holes of golf. It was very windy which was challenging at times but we enjoyed playing. This course is quite difficult as there is a lot of water on the course, and for someone like me who cannot hit very far it makes it tricky as water always comes into play. This photo shows the end of a certain hole where you tee off across a wide river, which in summer is flanked by thick vegetation, and it ends with crossing the river again to reach the green. On the right of this scene you can see the end of this hole where you have to hit over the river, avoid all the bunkers and hope you land on the green!
Back home we had catch up phone calls with Adam in San Diego, Tommy in Munich and Gavin's brother in Canada. It's not much fun having family living far away.
