Geode

CyclopsJnr started the day building a small technical Lego car he got for 50p at the school fair yesterday.

We went out on the boat today with friends.  The weather was OK but a bit breezy and with a couple of heavy rainshowers, but we had fun and a nice lunch afterwards.

CyclopsJnr provided very competent crewing, helping align the steering for some repairs, dealing with shore power, opening and closing seacocks, letting go the bow rope, and stowing all the fenders when we departed.  He also did very well at person-overboard drills, which all the kids seem to love (who doesn't enjoy throwing something off a moving boat then trying to pick it up again???).

This evening we broke open a geode that CyclopsJnr bought at a gemstone shop in the Lake District when we visited with Grandma.  It was satisfyingly sparkly inside (see extra).  He then got the bug and wanted to smash every rock in sight...  He did one more which turned out also to have little sparkly bits in it (another extra), then we quit while we were ahead...
