Opium Poppies

I continued working on the Algeria book while Mr C cleaned gutters and drains. It’s quite breezy so I got a lot of bedding washed. Mr C hung it out because I can no longer manage the steps up to the drying green as they are high and steep.

An Irish friend recommended Josephine Quinn’s “How the World made the West”. I think we’d both enjoy it. At the moment I’m reading “The Heart’s Invisible Furies” by Jon Boyne, loaned by Ailie. Never judge a book by its title! (That did put me off). It’s over 700 pages but it’s better than I expected, though I don’t think they had 50p in Dublin in 1959 - there were 240 Irish pence to the pound till 1971. Not did they have Jiffy bags. I know it’s unimportant but such things annoy me. But it’s very funny and perfect for a Codeine-addled brain. Oddly, I have chosen opium poppies for my blip. However I decided against morphine for the pain as they said it was more addictive than codeine.
