Bow Fiddle Rock

Back Blip 1

I had a very poor/slow internet connection in the hotel and it took ages to complete and post the blip I made on Thursday night.  I gave up on Friday as I became increasingly scunnered at the length of time it was taking me.

Below is a summary of some of the places Mrs CBL and I visited during our stay.  We had a great time exploring the fishing villages and towns of this part of the Moray Firth (Cullen - Lossiemouth) in warm sunshine!

Extras …
Lossiemouth (1-3), a town with a top quality golf course, super new marina, a strategically placed RAF base (home to fighter jets which amongst their many duties track Russian aircraft which are testing our defences by flying close to our airspace) and a very beautiful beach.

Spey Bay (4-6), home to a Dolphin Centre (didn’t see any but spotted an osprey!) and Scotland’s biggest shingle beach with huge stacks approximately 10 feet high.

Portknockie (main image and extra 7), a small fishing town with a famous landmark, the Bow Fiddle Rock.  It is a mature sea arch cut in steeply folded Cullen Quartzite.  In time the arch will collapse into the sea leaving a much less-distinctive sea stack in its place.

Highlights, apart from the above mentioned places we visited, were the delicious meals we had in the hotel and the local ice creams/pokey hats/cones.  The flavours tasted were Irn-Bru and Salted Caramel (Cullen) and Condensed Milk and Scottish Tablet (Lossiemouth) … superb!

Bigger bow when viewed in the large setting!
