If you can't beat them...

Flag Iris ( Iris pseudacorus )

A bit of an emergency blip.  The weather hasn't been bad if it were late autumn.  However it isn't late autumn it is "flaming" June.  As a result I wasn't tempted to go out looking for blips.  Late afternoon/early evening I nipped out into the garden having decided on an iris shot.  They are however getting past their best.

Being a plant with a liking for damp conditions we grow it in out "bog garden".  The original plants came from the garden of a friend where they seem to have crept in from the field next door.

It is interesting to note that a survey of UK plants showed the Flag Iris to be the plant that produced the second largest amount of nectar per day of the plants surveyed.
