Bye Bye Bernina
For the last day of my holiday, I chose a longtime favourite walk, from Alp Languard to Lej Languard (a little lake or tarn at the end of the valley), then up to Chamanna Paradis, a mountain hut with the best view of the Bernina range, and back.
I started early to avoid the crowds, and enjoyed the walk a lot. The flowers and marmots didn’t disappoint, and I even saw a (venomous) adder cross the path in front of me, and disappear into her hidey-hole just below its edge.
The lake was beautiful and calm. I sat there for a while, and would have stayed longer, but the sunshine has been very intense today and the valley was heating up fast. So I finished my walk in the early afternoon, before the heat became too unpleasant.
After struggling with the steeper parts of the walks all week, I didn’t have any problems today. It felt like I have just found my „mountain legs“ again, if there is such a thing. A little ironic, one day before leaving.
