I took the cycle track, and where I intended to go left and return via the allotment I went right and followed the Radbourne route. Unfortunately I was wearing jeans and the sun came out, so I was rather hot.

During the walk I made the decision to withdraw from the Club's hut to hut walk in the Lake District in 11 day's time. I'm not fit enough and I don't think my back would like the ascent, so I messaged Fi and it's okay, and I'm relieved.

Originally organised in March, before my back was an issue, it was going to be just Fi and I carrying all our stuff, but then 6 others added themselves, including Sue driving from hut to hut, meaning that only day sacks need be carried and clothes, food etc can go in the car. When Sue found out I'd withdrawn she offered me the passenger seat and a short walk each day with her, but that's not going to be worth the cost of the huts to me, i.e. about £100 for 6 nights as I don't have reciprocal rights. I'd rather be at home in my own bed, but kind of her to offer and we'd have enjoyed each other's company but...

Oh my goodness, is this the new normal!?!
