Moffat
Disembarked from the ferry at Aberdeen at 8am after a good crossing (apart from an hour or so of "a little movement", according to one of the crew). A steady drive back to Yorkshire with a lunch stop in Moffat. Had a wander down the high street where this Ram is standing over the car park.
Notes from the sign:
THE COLVIN FOUNTAIN aka THE MOFFAT RAM
The Fountain was a gift to the town from the philanthropist William Colvin of the Colvin Iron Company in Glasgow. Colvin lived at Craigielands in Beattock.
He commissioned William Brodie RSA to design and make the Fountain, specifying that he wanted it to feature a Black Faced Ram.
It was unveiled in 1875 and restored in 2004.
Many thanks for the interest, hearts and stars for our little northern adventure.
