Furnas
I didn't d much in the morning and joined Julian at noon for lunch at the conference venue.
After lunch, there was a trip to Furnas, a village on the east of the island of São Miguel, next to one of the largest caldera lake in the island, Lagoa das Furnas. There, a dish called Cozido das Furnas is cooked in the ground using volcanic heat (extra 2&3).
The village also has a beautiful botanical garden (extra1) and a pool supplied by a hot spring. I bathed in the hot springs with Ivet while Julian explored the gardens. The coach took us up the hill to the viewpoint over Lagoa Das Furnas (main), and then back to Ponta Delgada via the north of the island.
In the evening, we had the conference banquet with lovely traditional music.
I am back-blipping this and also back-blipped the previous entry.
