Off the hook

There is a certain period of the year when our gov'ts gleefully climb into one's wallet. That period is April to June. They couldn't spread them out a bit more could they. Oh no, their giddiness inflicting such horrific pain on everyone is plain to see. "Pay up on time or you'll have a 10% penalty to boot." 
The end of April is when the Federal guys jump in and claim their piece of your hide. Not to be out done, the end of June is when the municipal boys take their share of whatever is left leaving one feeling destitute and looking for a slice of bread to play host to a spoonful of jam for dinner.
Having paid my dues, I'm now ready to enjoy what's left at the bottom of the jam jar.
