Joe arrived at 8am to rub down and paint the last two window frames and surrounds. He was a good find! Am thinking of getting him to dig me a small pond.
I spent a good few hours gardening. I planted 6 or 7 plants, including two climbing ones which took a while. The soil was very dry but I managed to dig deep enough holes. Most of them went into the sunny border, so whilst I was at it I weeded it all and cut back some plants. Also did a bit more weeding (still plenty more to do though) and dug up a very old rose which died a couple of weeks ago. I was expecting that to be very difficult snd planned to ask J for help but in the end it came out quite easily. I’ll wait until the autumn or maybe next Spring, enrich the soil and plant something else there.i had just stopped and had a very late lunch when Ji called in on her way back from town to collect N’s upholstery glove to return to her for me. Of course she stayed for coffee and a chat.
I tidied up when she’d gone and did a bit of sorting but had lost my oomph for any more serious gardening.
Love these cornflowers and lavender close up but they are really floppy and probably not in the right place .
