A great evening
We got to Morpeth in good time for my appointment with the advanced practitioner physiotherapist (I asked Tone what her title was). She was thorough and examined my knee and compared both knees on the X-ray. She said she thought I should have a Rosenberg X-ray which would show the knee better than my previous X-ray. I asked about a scan but she said they were not done for this and there was no treatment for inflammation. I queried whether it was arthritis. She said it most likely was and a deterioration had caused inflammation. I asked what the next step was after I’d had the X-ray and was told if necessary I’d be referred to orthopaedics. I asked to be referred there now. She said she would do that (the wait for an appointment might be months) and I could ring for an X-ray appointment or go to Wansbeck in Ashington to the walk-in XRay unit.
So when Mr C picked me up we went straight there after I’d called Andrea and Pete, Morpeth friends, to say we’d not be coming for coffee. I didn’t have long to wait before they did the X-Ray. If I haven’t had the results in 2 weeks I am to ring JMaps.
We got home in time to have a sandwich and then go to the station to pick up Chloe and Graham who had had a good journey up from London. They are so pleased with the Blurb book I made of our Rotterdam trip and were interested in hearing about Algeria. They’d read a lot about the war of liberation and see a film.
While Mr C took them for a walk down to the village I prepared gnocchi and roast veg (in one dish) for our meal. Luckily I made a summer pudding as they left the baklava they were bringing in their fridge. (They live just off Green Lanes where there are a lot of Turkish shops and restaurants).
We’ve had such a lovely evening with these friends. Politics, books, films, drug use in younger days, CND, demos, food, families, travel, G’s role in Samaritans and more. (We met Chloe in Kyrgyzstan and later when we met her partner Graham the four of us really hit it off). They are laughing here because she had dropped food on her top so I said I’d manage a photo that would hide it.
