Chicory
……… out for a walk a bit earlier again and this time I went up the hill and round some fields that always get flooded and waterlogged in the winter but today were rock solid with large cracks appearing because it’s so dry - it always amazes me how the crops survive without any rain and I’ve never seen them being watered by the farmer.
Last year these fields had sunflowers and millet planted along the generous margins and were attracting all sorts of wildlife, so I went to see if they had been again. As you can see in the second extra, this year they have been planted with chicory and large daisies …… they look amazing, the photo doesn’t do them justice - unfortunately, though, they were not attracting much in the way of wildlife. Still, it was worth the long walk to see them ;-)
