Bye Bye Junior School & Nursery

Last day!

They made it so lovely for the kids too.

It started with Exhibition (prizegiving) which had the expected nice speeches, kids collecting prizes, and musical interludes.  The P6s sung "Consider Yourself" from Oliver (the P6 musical this year) and along with the P5s performed Baba Yetu (which they also did at the Usher Hall concert).  All the teachers in the school were there, and even the lovely crossing guard came in to watch, and then high-5 all the kids on the way out!

As the kids came out the sun was breaking through and the pipe band was playing in the playground.  The kids all signed each others shirts with sharpies, signed their yearbooks, and generally rampaged for a bit.

The parents had organised for a picnic on the sports field, with a pizza van, ice cream van, and photo booth for the kids.  They spent several more hours eating, playing football, chasing each other around, singing along to a boombox and generally having fun.

We got this photo on the way in this morning to match the photo taken on his first day at nursery here nearly 8 years ago, when he was just a few weeks past his third birthday.

He seems to have enjoyed the whole thing, and seems more excited to see all his friends again and get stuck into Geits (P7) at the Senior School  than he is sad to be leaving this one.  I think it helps that the seniors come here to help the smaller kids with projects and use the sports hall - so he knows he'll be back.

When we got home he went out and played with our neighbour again, biking, flying kites, and ultimately having a giant water fight again.

It's been a lovely end to the school year.
