Another goodbye

The Africa Bureau had a goodbye today and men cried. I think more men cried than women. There are more goodbyes planned. It is a bit much and I think it is a trauma response of people’s whose lives are being so thoroughly upended. Or maybe this is what good and decent people do.

I think this will be a tough series of days for me. That said, we will make a formal announcement of the business on LinkedIn next week and it will be a huge emotional plus for me. 

The Supreme Court did not give the State Dept permission to fire massive numbers of people yet so the RIFs did not happen today. 

My biggest accomplishment today was fixing whatever went wrong so my laptop, with its tiny little monitor, could recognize external monitors again. Thank goodness! 

Ukraine drones reportedly struck four fighter jets in Russia. They struck four Su-34 fighter jets. The Volgograd Oblast is 560 miles from Moscow. Two jets were destroyed, two damaged. Russia uses them to bomb Ukraine. The attack also caused a fire in the airfield’s technical and operational unit where combat aircraft are serviced.
