Tremendously Tremendous
A start with a long queue for coffee. At least they had surely the best almond croissants this side of Shepton Mallet so that was a bit of compensation. Off through the Pennard Hill gate and to the Pyramid stage for the opening act - Supergrass! Old Gaz and his chops. I remember liking We Are Young so much that a pal bought me that very T-shirt for my 40th. A joke of course. Was it really 30 years ago?
Talking of T-shirts mine attracted no fewer than three compliments during the day. Wow, eh? Rock n rolling grandad.
Anyway next up, CMAT. A perfect act for Glasto. She loved us. We loved her! Burning Spear next for some errr chill out grooving. He didn’t do Marcus Garvey though!
Onward, we had plans but chucked them in favour of snacking on squid and chips with more cider followed by a visit to Banksy’s Terminal One. I got hauled out as a drug runner. Yelp!
Then a bit of the Searchers - their final farewell gig. Every old person in Glastonbury was there. Honestly I got a wet eye. What’s all passing. The whole old world.
Time to leg it back to the Park for Self-Esteem. Jees, she was just terrific. I mean terrific. How come the standout acts were two young women? Tomorrow we’ve pencilled in two old men….
We had further plans but there was a large sausage roll with my name on it I’d seen earlier. And at the risk of coming on like an old bore (me??), it was tremendous.
