Hanging Around For Sloth Like Behaviour
Today was a very slow blip day so a sloth turned out to be exactly the right subject for today's image.
This little fella is apparently called Slowpoke and his date of birth is registered as 20th May 1999 (according to his Beanie Baby label). I have no idea how I acquired him but he ended up being my desk buddy at work for many years and sometimes just staring into his little soulful face (I worked in insurance so that passed as work based entertainment in my eyes!) would help me get through the frequent bouts of utterly mind bending tedium. He even had adventures of his own as he was frequently 'kidnapped' by work colleagues who would take him on holiday with them and then anonymously leave photographic evidence of his travels to various locations on my desk on their return - looking up at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, lounging by the pool and even on one occasion seemingly suffering the after effects of a big night out in some Mediterranean hotspot! He was always far better travelled than me!
I must admit that I have neglected the poor little chap since I was made redundant nearly 5 years ago and I only recently found him again lurking rather forlornly in a box of old work stuff at the back of our garage. So this blip is both an apology to my old work buddy and a chance to capture his portrait. I wanted a bit of colour in my image and maybe to recreate that holiday vibe of his numerous and widespread travels so I fashioned a hammock out of a lime green bumbag (not mine I hasten to add!) by hanging it from our washing line and added our colourful peg bag in the background so he could dream that he was back in much more exotic climes! :-)
