A moody, cloudy
start to the day with some heat
and sun yet to come...

I was up at 5 and out the door at 6. I thought I could have a look at Riverside Park this morning before the Canada Day preparations really begin.

I walked up the Rivers Trail towards the bridge to get a broad view of my mountains and the rivers. The marmots were in full force clambering over the Celtic Stones and wrestling on the grass. I got a view to the Overlander Bridge, very quiet before 7. There is some river shore emerging as the river level begins to fall.

I discovered a new colony of marmots along the Rivers Trail. Two climbed out of the sagebrush to have a look at me. Then, as I walked back down into the park, I found a little blue tent above the rivershore. Our homeless issues continue.

I did a little jaunt around the rose garden. All looked colourful and wet.

I stopped for my last shot of the construction area in the middle of the park. It will be a nuisance on Canada Day when the park is full. Vendors and visitors will be cramped for space.

I had a lovely chat with an American woman who was out to stretch her legs before breakfast. We talked about the political scene in the US  I assured her that we love our American friends but we hate their politics. She was to board the Rocky Mountaineer train this morning and I wished her safe travels.

I have my fingers crossed for a quiet weekend. The weather is to improve.
